About AiSlopData

About AiSlopData.org — independent research measuring AI slop in advertising inventory.

Our Mission

AiSlopData.org tracks how AI-generated low-quality content is flooding advertising inventory. We measure it, classify it, and publish what we find — so advertisers, agencies, and researchers can see what's actually happening.

What Is AI Slop?

AI Slop refers to low-integrity, mass-produced content environments optimized for impression harvesting rather than consumer value. These environments are increasingly enabled, scaled, or amplified through AI tools to produce spammy, scammy, manipulative, trademark-exploitative, or attention-farmed advertising inventory at industrial volume.

AI-generated content is not inherently low quality, unsafe, or harmful. AI tools are enabling extraordinary creativity, storytelling, productivity, and media innovation across the internet. AiSlopData.org focuses specifically on low-integrity monetized content environments — not on whether content is AI-generated, but on whether the inventory environment is:

  • Spammy or scammy
  • Low-effort or manipulative
  • Engagement-farmed or mass-produced
  • Narrative-incoherent or low-trust
  • Brand unsafe or trademark-exploitative
  • Designed primarily to capture monetizable impressions rather than deliver meaningful consumer value

Core Thesis

AI has made it cheap to produce garbage content at scale. That content gets monetized through advertising, which means advertisers are unknowingly funding it — and appearing next to it. We track where this is happening and how fast it's growing.

Our Research Focus

1. Adjacency Risk

The risk that advertising appears beside low-integrity, manipulative, exploitative, or AI-scaled content environments that negatively impact brand perception or consumer trust.

2. Brand Misrepresentation Risk

The risk that low-integrity or AI-scaled inventory environments distort, cheapen, dilute, misuse, or misrepresent advertiser messaging, trademarks, and brand positioning.

3. Human Attention Quality

The degree to which an environment reflects meaningful human engagement versus fragmented, compulsive, manipulated, or low-value attention patterns.

Our Approach

We measure what's happening and publish what we find. No ideology, no hot takes on AI as a technology. Just data on where low-quality AI content is showing up in ad-supported environments.

What we publish:

  • AI Slop Index — monthly metric tracking low-quality AI content saturation across platforms
  • Research Reports — analysis of specific slop categories, platforms, and their advertising impact
  • Measurement Framework — how we score and classify inventory quality
  • Taxonomy — a working classification of AI slop types that matter to advertisers
  • Methodology Center — full documentation of how we collect data and reach conclusions

Data Integrity

We'd rather publish less and be right than publish more and be wrong.

  • Every finding includes methodology, limitations, and confidence levels
  • All data is traceable to sources with timestamps
  • Research decisions are driven by data, not commercial interests
  • We prefer small trustworthy datasets over large questionable ones

What We Are Not

  • This is not an "AI is bad" project
  • This is not a political project or culture war platform
  • This is not a misinformation monitoring organization
  • This is not a censorship initiative
  • This is not focused on debated social issues or ideological scoring
